STUDYING FLUTE AT THE HOCHSCHULE FÜR MUSIK FREIBURG

The highly reputated Flute class of the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg has a long and glorious tradition of excellence, as an impressive number of legendary flutists (including Aurèle Nicolet or William Bennett) have been teaching there.

Mario Caroli is today the full time professor of flute at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.

Twice a year (in February and in June), the school offers possibilities of an entrance examination.

Please, notice the deadlines for your candidature :

December 1st for the February session (admitted candidates start in the following month of April)

April 1st for the June session (admitted candidates start in the following month of October)

The HfM Freiburg offers three levels of studies:

– BACHELOR (possibility to choose between artistic or pedagogical Bachelor)

– MASTER (possibility to choose between artistic or pedagogical Master)

– KONZERTEXAMEN

BACHELOR

The entrance examination consists in two Rounds. In the first round, contestants play their flute programs. Afterwards, a selected number of candidates will be allowed to go further to second round, during which they play a short program on the piano, as well as other tests (rhythms, sing…). Prior to the first round, all candidates are submitted to a written test of music theory.

MASTER

One round. A free program displaying different styles. A classical concerto of free choice is compulsory. Please feel free to choose the cadenzas you prefer or compose your own!

KONZERTEXAMEN
